ABS wants to be the only place you go to for repairs on AIDC related products. We service many of these items directly. However, for the few we do not, we will find a 3rd party vendor who can service your equipment. Think American Barcode and RFID Service for all of your AIDC service needs.
There are many customers who have in-house professionals who are familiar with AIDC technology. Sometimes the equipment they manage need printheads or parts. ABS sells a variety of printheads, parts, and supplies for many products. Review our list of printheads, parts, and supplies here.
Have you every felt that you needed something to
make your business more competitive but you didn’t know what? Our “Solutions
Consultants” can visit your facility and make recommendations as to where
“Automatic Identification and Data Capture” technology can improve your
business. These suggestions are based on years of experience in the AIDC
industry. One of our most popular products is called an SRDS (Systems
Requirement and Development Study). This intensive look at your business
process yields a 10 to 20 page document describing in detail what an AIDC system
would look like applied to your business practices.
When it comes to AIDC systems there is seldom a
“One size fits all” solution. So we take existing products and modify them to
meet your specific business requirements. We eliminate the need for you to
change your way of doing business to suit the software; we change the software
to meet your needs. Where a modified “Out of the Box” solution doesn’t seem
viable we can create a custom system with a data structure designed specifically
for your processes based on your data gathering and output requirements. We are
fully experienced in programming for Access, Visual Basic, Embedded Visual
Basic, Visual Studio .Net, SQL, Satellite Forms and many others.
An American Barcode Installation will enable you
to get your system up and running quickly with little effort on your part.
Typically an installation will include services like:
-
Installing any provided software to desktop
computers and or servers.
-
Assistance with installing pre-requisite
software on a computer (such as SQL server, etc.)
-
Programming handheld devices such as “Portable
Data Terminals and or “Personal Digital Assistants” where applicable.
-
Wireless “Site Survey”, in order to guarantee
connectivity in every nook and cranny of your warehouse.
-
Configuring handheld devices (PDT’s and PDA’s)
to work with wireless networks including the setup of WLAN security.
-
Setup of any additional hardware utilized by the
system such as barcode printers, barcode scanners, etc.
Training is the key to a quick implementation of
any new system. Users that have familiarity with new processes are not only
more productive when the system goes online but also much less likely to make
mistakes. Training is essential to the success of any AIDC system. A typical
training may include:
-
Walking a group of users through the new system
step by step. Usually we start with sample data so the users can make
mistakes and learn from them without having to worry about their data
integrity.
-
Training administrators on how to solve problems
and repair mistakes as they arise. We also discuss system backup strategies
where applicable.
-
A trainer is there during “Go Live” so that
problems can be solved and questions be answered as the new system rolls out.
Annual
Support Agreement
An annual support agreement guarantees our help
solving problems when they arise. This can be renewed yearly and includes:
-
Free upgrades to any American Barcode Produced
“Out of the Box” software for the term of the agreement (where applicable).
-
Free “Minor” upgrades to “Intellitrack” AIDC
software.
-
Unlimited toll free technical support – This
includes questions as to functionality, database issues, installation help
etc. A support question would be “How do I delete old data from my system?” A
question like “How do I use this system I bought from you?” would require some
training days. Our support is not as
detailed as our training and should not be viewed as such.
-
Remote Access Support – We have technology that
allows us to log into your computer and repair the problem from our office.
SRDS
Detailed Description
A “Systems Requirement and Development Study” (SRDS)
consists of the following:
Onsite Visit
Our consultant will visit the customer’s location
to take a tour of the facility and view the current business practices. Our
consultant will want to meet with all of the managers and other workers who have
a say in how the proposed AIDC should be implemented. If there is data that
needs to be exchanged with another system, our consultant will meet with the
person or persons responsible for that system and identify areas where data
exchange needs occur and propose ideas on how to implement it.
Scope of Work
Document
This is a 10 to 20 page document which will serve
as a software “Functional Specification.” This
document will be the template used in designing the system and will be detailed
enough to be used even if the proposal is not accepted. In most cases delivered
with the “Scope of Work” document will be a “Quoted Price” which can not be
deviated from for any reason provided the specification does not change.
Reasons for an
SRDS
-
The quote is detailed and precise; the customer
knows what they are paying for up front.
-
The specification is identified early on so the
system doesn’t take various paths in its development. This minimizes the
long-term cost of the project and maximizes system reliability.
-
Integration (data exchange) points are clearly
identified.
